Dynamo: Custom Selection Node by Dana De Filippi (DanamoBIM)
Feb 27, 2025
Dynamo 2.16 (Revit 2023.1 and newer versions) introduced a custom selection node! This is especially useful for interfacing with scripts within Dynamo Player. The node can be found within the Input / Basic category of the Dynamo library.
The node incorporates a dropdown menu for customization. Values can be added or removed using the plus and minus (+/-) buttons. The value displayed within the dropdown as well as the value delivered through the output of the node can be modified independently.
To demonstrate use of this node I revisit a previous script, Titleblock_Keyplans, created in Dynamo Shorts - Ep011 - Title Block Key Plan Automation. In the original version of the script the user specifies which keyplan to apply to sheets within Dynamo Player using a number toggle.
The input can be made much more intuitive to the user using the custom selection node!
